how would you describe your style?

what kinds of sessions do you offer?

Fresh, bright, unique, timeless,.... if I do say so myself! I have created a very specific, consistent and  unique style that I am proud to offer my clients. I adore moments of genuine expression and we PLAY a lot during our time together! My goal is that you leave not even feeling like you were just at a photo session! (it's more like just hanging out with a friend who happens to have a camera ;).

I offer family photography, maternity, bridals, engagements, models, children-only sessions, "love story" sessions, and weddings selectively.
I also a proud to offer COMMERCIAL PHOTOGRAPHY for your business. I have many clients who can attest to the importance of amazing images that represent their brand! Please see my separate commercial photography page for details.

WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR?

Repeat after me.... are you ready?.... "I can do this, and Jeanna is here to help me." Isn't that just the best news ever?! This is one of my absolute favorite parts of the whole experience. Repeat after me.... are you ready?.... "I can do this, and Jeanna is here to help me." Isn't that just the best news ever?! This is one of my absolute favorite parts of the whole experience. First of all, clothing can make one of the BIGGEST differences in your outcome. Chances are, if you like my photos it's because you are drawn to a certain style. The style I pride myself in, is soft, etherial and timeless. You might notice that the photos I show, feature people in light colors and simple patterns (if any). Every photographer has a different style, but my theory is that when you go "light and airy" with your clothing, the focus is brought to your beautiful face. Instead of competing with busy patterns, eyes are drawn to your smile, and your family's expressions and interactions. It also helps the overall color tone of the photo. The BEST news is that these kinds of clothes are easy to find! Now more than ever, you can find light colors and simple styles.

I also have an exclusive "client closet" filled with boutique clothing items that I offer upon booking. This includes maternity gowns, floral dresses, floral crowns, and dresses for the little ones (including the clothing in the above photo!). This is a really fun (and optional) part of the experience!

what if i don't know what to do in front of the camera?

I think most of us feel this way at heart. Luckily not only are my sessions extremely relaxed, but I fully guide you and your family into poses and give you prompts so you can have moments of genuine laughter and fun together. When you leave your session I want you to say, "Was that even a photo shoot?" :)

can I show you ideas I found on Pinterest?

I love Pinterest as much as the next gal! I am happy to glean inspiration from any photos you find - they won't be exactly the same of course (lighting, clothing, expressions.... all differ from person to person and place to place). The good news is that if you like the photos you see on my site, that is exactly what you will receive!

how many photos do you take?

I take many photos of different combinations - if you are taking family photos, I usually start with the full family shots and then move on to sub-groups (such as daddy-daughter, mommy-son, children together, children individually, parents together, etc.). I focus on quality over quantity and deliver approximately 60 - 80 images per session. They are individually and carefully hand-edited by myself, and provide ample choices for gallery walls and albums.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A MINI SESSION AND A FULL SESSION? (and then some) ;)

This is a great question! I do offer mini sessions about twice a year (usually in the Spring and Fall) here in Missouri, and then usually every time I travel. I do want you to choose the best option for you! Here is the breakdown:

MINI SESSIONS:
The pro's - Quick, captures the "highlights," great if you are on a budget and/or tight schedule, if the temperature is tough, it's over quickly!
The con's - Well, it's quick :), no wiggle room on time if you are late, sometimes can be a gamble with the kids behavior (although I've never had a session that didn't work) ;), we don't get the detail shots or as many candids that we do in a full session.
Overall: Still a fantastic choice, highly recommended for everyone.... with the exception of large groups ;). Mini's are so fun and I still get a LOT in those 15 minutes.

FULL SESSIONS:
The pro's - We have plenty of time to capture all kinds of photos, different combinations of people, and we can take breathers if the kids need a break, etc. There is less pressure, we have flexibility on scheduling (whereas mini's are at a set time and location). I provide more photos and am able to take detail shots of things like hand holding, and all the little moments. We have time to have fun and relax.
The con's - Costs more than a mini session, takes more time, sometimes tougher to talk a grumbling family member into ;)
Overall: I'm a huge fan of full sessions because of the time element, flexibility, and the kinds of candid photos I am able to deliver in the end. If you are having a hard time deciding, let's talk! I can send you some example galleries of both.

*PIGGYBACK SESSION:
"What on earth is a piggyback session?" you may ask. Well, because I can't always offer mini sessions at the drop of a hat (it takes a lot of coordinating on my end), I am happy to offer an occasional mini session slot (or in other words, a mini session price and package) before or after an ALREADY BOOKED full session. I offer these for smaller families, maternity sessions, children-only, birthday shots, and other fairly simple sessions because time is limited. If you have any questions about this, I'm all ears!
